Do You Block a Throw?

Hello!

I recently learned how to block, and I am now a believer in blocking before finishing a sweater.

I am curious and I hope someone can provide me with their experience/advice - should I block my throw before sewing in the ends?

Thank you!

I think it depends more on what the throw is made of. If it’s acrylic or something washable then you don’t really need to.

It is made up of more expensive yarns, wools and mohair. It will not be washed often. Thanks for your imput!

I used a large area rug, clothes pins, and a steam iron.

The rug was larger than my blanket so I was only able to block 2 sides at a time.

Steam iron should be set on wool and not touch the throw.

Don’t know if this is the correct way to block a large piece but I couldn’t think of any other way at the time for my piece. It did work.

Maybe a large piece of cardboard?

Hope this helps,
Kathi

Thanks Kathi!
