I try to find patterns for towels and I get that I can use any repetitive pattern for any towel. But do I still use cotton?

I have a towel I made P2 K2 and it’s short because I used one ball only of Sugar-n-Cream. But my hubby says it doesnt’ absorb like our regular towels for drying his hands.

Was it the pattern I did? Or will I just not accomplish making a towel for drying your hands that is nice like a store bought towel?

The SnC is much heavier (dense) than the fibers in store-bought towels. Store-bought towels also often have ‘loops’ of fine fibers that allow the fabric to breathe…and that makes them lighter and quicker to both absorb and then dry. The more ‘airy’ your stitch pattern the more apt it’ll be to act more like a store-bought towel. Or you could make the towel in a much finer cotton (like a fingering weight). SnC, IMO, is better for dishcloths, hotpads, rugs, etc. There are cotton blends that’ll make the fabric lighter but the blend might include non-absorbing fibers.

Thanks for that explanation. Do they cary fingering weight yarns at hobby lobby? Anything specific I should look for?

They all posted good reviews. You might see what yarns were used, the stitch pattern…as they compare to yours. I noted some used SnC so perhaps others will offer insights on what you could do differently.
