Discounted yarns?

Good evening good friends -

I’m looking at a beautiful lacey summer afghan pattern but will need to find some inexpensive yarn as this is a triple strand number and approx. 52 X 62 inches.

I’ve spent hours online looking at discount sites … any suggestions of your favorites sites. Any opinion on Caron yarns? I’ve just finished an afghan with the ‘one pound’ Caron and found it really sheddy - fuzz everywhere as I knit, breathing in fibers - yeck. I"m hoping this is not a ‘signature’ of the quality of Caron yarn in geneneral, just the fuzzy intent of that specific yarn … if that makes any sense.

These are both good sites where you can get inexpensive yarn. I don’t know much about the Caron yarns, so I can’t help you there.

There is a chat room, but it doesn’t get used all that much.

What weight yarn are you looking for? What type of fiber? Yarn.com (you can link from this site) has a lot of closeout yarns. I have been eyeing a cotton/microfiber blend for a baby blanket.

Thanks for your response so quickly - I went back into both of these sites and just trusted that these were about the best prices I would find … and actually saw more enticing offers than I’d seen before.

My projects are WAY needed therapy right now so need something to start again immediately.

What I do will depend on the worsted cottons I can find right now - thank you , sweet Ingrid for your response.

Right here our wind chill is 25 to 40 degrees below zero today … HA - hard to think about knitting with summer weight yarns for my daughters Memphis, TN summers … but every good thing is always forth coming

The link for the chat room? Just put your curser over the Forum tab. There’s a drop down menu for the chat room.

Don’t be afraid to initiate a chat. When people want to chat, they usually post a message in the General Knitting section along the lines of “Anyone want to chat?”

Well, I’m still in awe of some yarn I found on ‘smileysyarns’ … some Bernat cotton for a dollar … so ordered 30 skeins for a porch throw in Memphis and be a table runner. I’m so new at all of this, I can’t imagine how it will turn out as the pattern calls for 70% mohair and 30% wool worsted weight. I’ll be using cotton worsted and the lace is REALLY open … well, it will be beautiful anyway even if it isn’t any too toasty for a mid summer’s night eve.

Wish my digital camera was working as I’d love to share pics of things. I DO so love seeing everybody elses.

:frowning: - I’ve practiced the new stitch for this throw but have only just now ordered the yarn so I have nothing to knit till it arrives … this will drive me crazzzyyyyy :XX: … need to have multiple projects going on at once, I can see… at least to give me some scraps to play around with. … Now off to hunt down some 11 + circular needles.
