Different color border at each edge

[B]HOW [B]in the world do I attach the main color to the border at each edge? Going from a pearl stitch to a knit stitch…THEN from a knit stitch to a knit stitch…THEN from a pearl stitch to a pearl stitch…THEN from a knit stitch to a knit stitch…

I’e tried new color UNDER the border color on a knit to knit…THAT seems to work…from there on I am clueless.
