I’m thinking I read the pattern incorrectly as I’m getting half way through, so before I continue I want to double check. After the stockinette 5 row the pattern read as follows:
Inc 1 stitch at each end on the next row and the following 6th row to 58 for the size 6 in orange in the picture attached
Then in bold it says
Sizes 6 and 8: inc 1 stitch at each end for the follow 8th row to 62
Then in bold again it says
All sizes: continue in stockinette stitch until sleeves meas 13 inches from beginning ending in purl row.
Where I think I went wrong is I increased on the first row as it said then the 7th and 9th row but what I think I should have done is increased every 7th row until 58 and then every 9th row until 62? Which is the correct method? As I’m only at 7 and a half inches and only have 2 more increase rows to do before I hit 62 the diagram at the bottom looks more like it increases until the end of the pattern, the way I’m doing it, it would stop increasing at 8 and 1/2 to 9 inches… Please help before i just start over
Work the 5 rows in stockinette. Call the next row, row 6. Increase at each end of rows 6,12,18,24,30,36 and 42. That will take the stitch count from 44 to 58.
Then increase at each end of rows 50 and 58. That will be at 62sts.
The diagram may not be perfect or possibly your row gauge varies from the pattern row gauge (25 rows /4"). The length at the pattern gauge would be about 10 inches when the increases are finished. At 7.5 inches with two more increases to work. you’re pretty close.
No matter. Just make the increases and then continue until the sleeve measures 13 inches.
Ya I’ve been working the instructions for the 6th rows and 8th rows at the same time so I just unravelled to the first increase and will start over hahaha id rather do that and do it correctly
Ah, I see. I agree, better to work this over. The photos of the front and back are so nicely done that you want the sleeves to be perfect. The reknit always seems to go quickly.
