I was wondering if anyone could help me modify this pattern? I want to put an “S” in one corner in either the same color or a different color. I was thinking that I could plural the “S” but I am not good at modifying patterns and I really have no idea where to start.

Hmm, if I understand what you mean, then I’m not exactly sure how that would be done with that particular pattern. Are you thinking of using intarsia? I’m not sure if that works with garter stitch. Anyone else more familiar with something like this? Does duplicate stitch work on garter stitch?
You could put the S in st st, maybe surround it with a square of st st with the S in the middle. It would be backwards on the other side, though.
