I have been looking for a earflap hat pattern for a while. It seems all the pattern on the net with earflaps look like swim cap. Is there a reason for this? I want a regular hat with earflaps. Can I just take a regular hat pattern, then add the earflaps on it?

Make the flaps, then cast on for the front, knit along the flap edge, cast on for the back, knit along the flap edge.
