Denim Yarn

In the “Best of Rowan” book there is a really nice zip front blue cardigan/jacket for men, it is called “Tex”. The pattern calls for Rowan’s 100% cotton Denim Yarn. My shop tells me it is a nice yarn, but it is intended to shrink, so that patterns that use it are designed to accommodate an unpredictable level of shrinkage. Has anyone here had any experience with “denim yarn”?

Thanks for the information.

I have used the denim yarn once before, and it shrank only a small bit. Just work the pattern and you should be fine.

(I washed mine on the knit setting in a Kenmore Fabric-Matic)

Thank you for your response. My husband has asked for a cotton sweater and he needs something for working out side. He is now at the “portly” stage of his life so I need to know how the yarn shrinks: does it shrink as much wide as long? Does it act like other cotton sweaters and come out of the washer/dryer a little smaller than it went in and then stretch out the first time you wear it? I have never worked with cotton before–leave alone denim.
