Hi I’m knitting a hat and I’m about to start decreasing but I don’t understand the pattern! Help!

The different numbers/sizes?
The repeats?
The abbreviations?

I don’t understand the numbers (17, 20, 23) etc. Do I do ssk and k2tog at each of those stitches?
Or could it be because the hat can be knitted in three different sizes, and the three numbers in brackets correspond to each size??
I.e. Knit 17 for the smaller size, 20 medium and 23 for larger hat??

You’ve got it! That’s exactly right, different sizes. The numbers at the ends of the rows give you total sts, also for the 3 sizes.
