Decreasing on sleeves with cable pattern

I am knitting the Chic cable sweater from a pattern I got from Ravelry (www.redheart.com). There is a cable pattern on the upper part of the sleeves. Now that I am decreasing and binding off, should I continue each edge stitch as a knit stitch, to aid in sewing it up, or continue the edge stitches as the pattern stitches? Or will it even matter? I have only made sweaters with raglan sleeves in the past, so I am a bit nervous about the sewing up of this type of sleeve, and want to make it as easy on myself as possible. Thanks for any input you may have…Lisa

Would probably be easier to keep the edge st in knit, which means your cables will probably have to stop on the edges, but if there’s one in the middle you can continue that all the way up.
