Decreasing at the end of a row

Good morning,

I am a new knitter and am knitting my first adult sized jumper.

I am shaping the sleeve and the pattern says to decrease 1 stitch at the end of each row. I have been doing this but have been casting off one stitch to achieve this. I just realised that I probably should have done this by knitting 2 stitches together at the end of each row rather than casting off.

Does anyone know whether it will be a problem that I cast off rather rather than knitting 2 stitches together?

Welcome to the forum!
It’ll give a small stair step to the seam but it should be ok. Usually it’s better to use a k2tog and ssk (or the purl equivalents) one or two sts in from the ends when you do this kind of shaping.
