Decreasing and keeping the pattern correct

Help. I am having a meltdown. I’m knitting a baby cardigan in moss stitch. I have got to decrease 1 st at each end of every alternate row. Decrease is as follows
K1, sl 1, K1, paso, cont in pattern to last 3 sts, K2 tog, K1.
Next row is K1,P1,K1.
But I’m confused , because I have dec should my next row start with a Purl and not a knit ? Help

The best advice is to look at your knitting and determine how to begin the row. You want to maintain the pattern that you’ve set up in the previous rows. The decrease is going to interrupt that pattern at the edges but that will be ok as long as you start the row so that that main body of the pattern aligns with the earlier rows.
