On the side of chart 2 in my pattern it reads rnd 1: dec 12 sts = 132 sts
WHERE do they want me to decrease??? I’m afraid of screwing up the pattern …

If the chart has decreases in it, this is probably just an explanation of the final number of decreases that you’ll have done and the number of stitches you should end up with.
If there are now decreases on the chart, and row one is just mc stitches, then you should decrease evenly all the way around.
