Decrease Pattern Question

Hello!
I’m brand new to knitting and just looking ahead to a pattern I might give a go this weekend and just not sure what how to read this part to decrease the round.

Round 1-K6, K2tog
Round 2-K5, k2tog
and it continues to Round 7-K2tog

Does it meant that I reduce that first round by 6 stitches and then knit together, and then the next one reduce by one more, etc, etc, until there aren’t any left except to knit together?

Welcome!
Hats often decrease in this way. Round 1, knit 6sts, knit the next 2sts together, then repeat, k6, k2tog until the end of round. Round 2, knit 5sts, knit the next 2sts together and repeat, k5, k2tog until the end of round.
Yes, at round 7, repeat the k2tog all the way around.
