Decrease neckline

Hi,

I’m shaping the neck on my Kim Hargreaves pattern called Camel.

It just says dec 1st at neck edge.

I’m not sure if I’m overthinking this but do I just knit 2 together at the beginning of the row?

I’ve been looking online and seeing people suggest other methods and now I am confused.

Any advice would be really appreciated!

Thanks
Lucy

You’re going to be decreasing on the next 8 rows to begin. That means that you could use p2tog on the reverse side at the beginning of the row and k2tog at the end of the row on the front side. It’ll give you a line of decreases that follows the neckline on the left front. I like to work the dec one stitch in from the edge to give an edge for picking up the neckband sts.
There are other ways of working this if you don’t like that line of decreases and you don’t have to work the decreases one stitch in from the neck edge. It may help to try this out on a small swatch to see if you like the look.

Hi thank you for your help.
I am actually trying to decrease in moss stitch which I am struggling with.
Have you got any advice for this?
Thanks

After you work the decrease, look at your knitting to figure out how to continue the pattern. The decrease is going to change the way the pattern row starts but the important thing is to make sure that doesn’t shift the moss pattern in the body of the knitting. You want the columns of knits and purls to continue without a jog.
