Decrease instructions for knitted hat

Decrease on hat - can’t figure out instructions.

Hi

I’ve been trying to figure out the instructions at the reduce stage of a circular needle hat I’m knitting. Knitted the hat then get into the reduction

96 stitches at start

Row 1 (K21. Sl 1, K2tog, PSSO) do 4 times
Row 2 Knit

Row 3 (knit to 1 stitch before the centre stitch of the decrease in row1, slip 1 k2 tog, psso)

Row 1 and 2 are fine but I can’t quite grasp what the author means regarding Row 3

Ideas?

In row 3 there is a left slanting double decrease like the one in row 1. You could knit 20 and that would bring you to one stitch before the centered decrease. Remember to slip the slipped stitch knitwise.
