Hello, I’m building a knit 2 purl 2 hat on circular needles, with 120 stitches casted on, what is the best decrease pattern?
Are you following a pattern?
How many stitches do you want to decrease?
Over how many rows?
Without knowing that…
Simply, the easiest way is to K2tog or p2tog whereever you need to put your decreases. Then treat those stitches as a 1x1 rib when you get to them on the next row rather than the 2x2 rib you have been working to that point. Just knit the knits and purl the purls as you see them.
You can decrease every 12sts 10 times or every 12 sts 10 times depending on how you want to shape the hat. If it’s every 12sts you would work 10 and then work 2tog; if every 12sts, you would work 10sts and the work 2tog. Usually the decreases are done every other row (that is, with a row between decrease rows).
