Deciphering Patterns

Hi,
I’m new here and relatively new to knitting. I’m trying to knit up a pattern for legwarmers but in the instructions it has ‘m1’ can anyone tell me what this is?
Thank you!

That is a “Make one”. Check the video page for increases- it’s on there!

Good luck & welcome!

Hmm, I am still a little confused, as I thought that to increase it has to be at an end of a row. This ‘m1’ instruction occurs in the middle of a repeated section:
"Next row: k2, p1 m1 p1 rep to last 2 sts, k2."
as the second to last row in the legwarmers…
Thank you for the welcome and the luck - I’m sure I’ll need it

You can make incs anywhere in a patt. They are used for shaping and shaping’s not limited to just the end of the row.
