Deciding on which size, please help

Hi everyone,
My bust size is 42 " My pattern says it has 2-6in" of positive ease but 2" is not enough, how do I achieve the 6" of ease.

What is the name of your pattern and designer?
Can you go up a size and will that give you the necessary positive ease?

If you work a swatch with your yarn and needles, you’ll be able to calculate the size at the bust. Then you’ll have a better idea where your knitting will fall within the 2-6" positive ease.

If your bust size is 42", and you want 6" of ease, then you need to make the size with a finished measurement of 48" (or thereabouts).

If there isn’t a size with a finished measurement close to 48", then you’ll need to give us some more information on the pattern and the sizes it comes in so we can advise further.

(As salmonmac says, the finished size also depends on your gauge/tension, so swatching is important.)

Thank you both for replying.
