Debbie Bliss Kids' Baseball Jacket

I am very confused on the front and neck edging part where it says knit two together knit six knit two together from sleeve top. Am I joining the sleeves to the back at this point? I’m very confused as to where I go after knitting off the safety pin. Thanks for any help.

This pattern is so cute!

Yes you are joining the bits together with the stripe of main colour (in the photo it’s a ruby red strip which you can see running along the top of the ruby front and the cream sleeve).
It might seem a bit strange working it as the raglan are not yet seamed together. I think I’d rather the raglan were seamed so the whole garment was a bit sturdier before working around the edge but there must be a reason for it being put together this way.
There are a number of different stitches on hold to pick up and you’re on the right track with them. After the sleeve top it’s the back neck, the other sleeve top, then the small safety pin of 3, the left front parts and the left edge.
It will probably make sense after you work it.

Thank you. I’m going to have to take a deep breath and do this when I’m not so stressed out LOL right now I’m very upset with the pattern and upset with me for not understanding it LOL

Okay I have managed to pick up all the stitches so I have all the stitches on the needle. Now I am getting ready to start the “next row”, which is knit 60 (for the size I am doing), increase in next stitch knit 87 increase in next stitch knit 60… when I’m doing these next rows, do I always have the right side facing me?.. and if so, how does that work, because at some point don’t I have to have the wrong side facing me?? Thanks

Brilliant! Well done. That must be a relief.

There are 3 “next rows”. Turn as normal at the end of each row.
So,
Next row work as given with the knit 60, inc in next stitch etc. This row is worked all the way to the end of the row. At the end turn as normal.
Next row work as given k72, m1 etc. This is worked to the end too. At the end turn as normal.
Next row cast off 62, k88, cast off 62. This takes you to the end of the row and this section. You will have 88 stitches remaining on the needle and the next part tells you what to do with these.

These 3 rows make a little garter stripe. It’s a decorative piece after the main body and sleeve and before the collar and also the button band.
You might be confused with it being knit each row but you do turn as normal and it is correct to knit both sides to produce the garter ridges.

If you have the pattern photo in front of you it is the red textured bit, if you zoom in you can see it is not stocking stitch. If you don’t have the photo you can follow the link above.
