Hi-
I have asked before-but will try again.
I have some D-M patterns for 8 inch dolls.
Love the designs, and patterns look simple,
but can’t make them come out right.
Is it because I am from USA?
Exp. Dress-knitted in one piece to armholes.
cast on 115 stitches.
K 2 rows
1st row Sl.1 (yrn.P.1.p.3tog. p.1. yon.k.1.) to end.
2nd row Sl.1. p. to last st. k.1.
3rd row S.1. k to end.
4th row As 2nd row.
Sounds easy, right?
REPEAT the last 4 rows 8 times more then 1st and 2nd
rows again. Which rows exactly do they mean?
Dec row K.1. (k2tog) to end. (Here I am supposed to have
58 sts.
I am before dec row, and have around 15 stitches!!
What am I doing wrong? Does not look like picture at all!
Help
Daisy-May doll clothes patterns
cast on 115 stitches.
K 2 rows
1st row Sl.1 (yrn.P.1.p.3tog. p.1. yon.k.1.) to end.
2nd row Sl.1. p. to last st. k.1.
3rd row S.1. k to end.
4th row As 2nd row.
This should work. The repeat on row 1 is over 6 stitches and one extra and 6X19 is 114+1=115.
Cast on your 115, and knit 2 rows.
Here is what you do on the 4 rows of pattern:
Row 1: Slip the first st, *YO, p1, P3tog, p1, YO, k1; repeat from the * to the end.
Row 2: Slip the first st, purl to the last st, k1.
Row 3: Slip the first st, knit the rest of the row.
Row 4: Slip the first st, purl to the last st, k1.
The stitch number should stay the same throughout. I suggest you cast on 13 stitches and try the pattern over those and see if you keep your 13 stitches over 2 complete repeats of the pattern. If you lose stitches let us know and we’ll see if we can help you figure out where you are losing them.
When it says to
REPEAT the last 4 rows 8 times more then 1st and 2nd rows again.
It means to repeat those 4 rows of pattern 8 times and then do rows 1 and 2 of the pattern again and stop there.
Slipping the first stitch each time and on rows 2 and 4 knitting the last stitch is supposed to make an edge that supposedly helps you sew it up. I think. Are you supposed to sew it up on the sides to form the dress? If so I would not slip the first stitch, nor knit the last stitch on rows 2 and 4. IMO that makes it harder to sew up. If something else is going on it might be a good idea. :??
So if they are having you seam those edges where you slipped and always knit the last stitch I would just :
Row 1: K1, then do what is after the asterisk and repeat it to the end. (don’t repeat the beginning K1)
Row 2:Purl
Row 3: Knit
Row 4: Purl
I believe it is easier to seam without the slipped stitch edge. If you have experience seaming and like the slipped stitch edge, do it, but in my experience it just makes it harder to do a mattress stitch seam.
