I have just found out that felted knitting can cut. I am making a bag and would like a narrow flap over in the centre. Would it be ok to just make a slit for a button? Would I need to over stitch (not very good at sewing but would have a go!) the slit?

Yes, you can cut felted knitting. Since it can sometimes fray, it’s probably a good idea to over stitch the buttonhole. Maybe you can practice this on some felted knitting? You’ll need a sharp needle for this.
