Is there a way to create custom washing instruction tags which can then be attached to items you have knitted?
Custom tags with washing instructions?
maybe take a piece of fabric and get an ink that isn’t washable? :??
There are many places online that will make you custom satin tags to sew into your projects. They can put all the washing instruction symbols on them, and then you can just use a marker to show which ones NOT to do. You can also have something nice on them like “handmade especially for you by (your name here)”.
Now they can be expensive, maybe $100 but you get anywhere from a few hundred to 1000 tags.
Also: If you have a serger(sp?) you can make tags on that as well.
google for them…i got a whole bunch of them for like $20 i think…can’t remember where at the moment but they were very nice. you can also get imprintable fabric at office depot and print out tags on there. they are stiffer but still work. I sewed mine on when i did that (before i got the other ones) but they can be ironed on if you are very careful!.
I use the same method as described in Silver’s link above. Works fairly well. The last tags I made should have been made with a softer ribbon. A little to crisp for my taste but after a few washing they will probably soften up. Give it a try.
hmmm…this is the second time someone has called me Silver…am I showing up correctly? Not that I wouldn’t want to be Silver! :roflhard: I’d certainly get a lot more knitting done.
 Oh, Kemp. I’m sorry I misidentified you. You are showing up fine. It’s me–just had a senior moment. I guess I have Silver’s sock tutorial on the brain–that’s what I’m knitting now. Sorry about that. :verysad:
I just thought it was kind of funny since Denise did the same thing once or twice. I was starting to think something strange was happening with the way my posts were shown.
