Cross thread

Hi. I need help with an English pattern. I am from Denmark and therefore not that used to English patterns. The pattern says;

make 1 knitwise tbl (=with the left needle slip cross thread from the back to the front onto the left needle and K1).

make 1 purlwise tbel (=with the left needle pick up the cross thread from the front onto the left needle and K1 tbl).

I understand the words but not what the “cross thread” is and how to make it. Does anyone know where to find a video showing this?

I believe the “cross thread” is the horizontal bar between the two stitches.

You are doing a M1 increase.
