Well I’m back but with a crochet enquiry.
I was never taught how to crochet but picked up bits and pieces from my mam when I was young and therefore am not familiar with stitch names and pattern terminology. Unfortunately I can not ask for her help now as she is in ill health. I have attached a photo of (row 3) of the pattern I don’t understand. I wondered where it states “7 times” does it mean into the same stitch? In fact if someone could explain In English what the whole row means I think would be able to continue from there.
I would really appriciate any help at all I am determined to do it and I have watched demos on line but cannot find a demo to explain is.

Repeat what is inside ( ) 7 times, so: 1 h. tr. into next h. tr is what you do 7 times, it will use 7 sts from the previous row. Then go back to * repeat (beginning with the increase) until you have 5 sts remaining. Work them as indicated.
You would follow the first part of the instructions. Inside the asterisks ** you do what it says. Keep repeating it until you get to the number of stitches left. Then follow the directions after the asterisks until you get to the end. I don’t know what country you’re from,but the pattern is written for England and Australia. The half treble crochet mentioned here would be a half double in America. This is why it’s important to know where the crochet pattern is from.

htr=half double
tr=double
dtr=treble

I’m in England and its a pattern my mam crochet for my children when they were babies. I hope I can do it justice.

What are you making? You’re certainly welcome to post photos of it too.
It’s a matinee jacket but its soo beautiful when my mother made it she elongated it and I had it for a christening cape over the christening gown. I’ll try my best to do the same. I’ll post a photo if I’m successful.

Well I really struggled and in the end I knit the edging instead of crocheting it! But it’s done and for my first crochet project I think it’s ok
