I have been searching for a pattern I can’t find, so I am creating it. It has buttons, so for the button holes I do:
(garter stitch edge: P 8 at beg of every row)
[begin button hole row]:
P to last 5 st, bind off 3, P2
P 3, cast on 3, P2, K to…
Does that makes sense that you should have 5 st. left on your needle and then begin binding off? Should I reword it?
Thanks!
It makes sense to me, and I am a total beginner. So it should be fine.
The part about having five stitches left makes sense, but what about the garter stitch edge? Do you not purl eight at the beginning of the next row before P3, CO3, etc.?
Be sure to share the pattern when you’re done! xxx

Yes, it’s P8, then P8 again every row exept every 10th row or so make this change for a buttonhole. I will share. I’m hoping to get it on knitty.com. I know, I know, ambitious.
But I haven’t found anything like it.
BTW, thanks y’all for the help!!!
