Crazy yarns for a newbie... ideas?

had an ‘eyes bigger than fingers’ moment and both bought and was gifted more than i should, but at good prices… now… what to do with them… scarves, hats, afgans, something crazy? 1st picture shows all the balls/skeins so color striping shows, 2nd picture shows them more up-close, with a ruler for scale… thanks for any ideas, 'topher  (there were also a bunch of crazy self-striping medium-weight acrylics, but i’m not as stumped on those)

Could you combine one of the greens with the purple and knit a shawl or scarf?

I’d probably go for scarvesr as a trim on something. I’m pretty conservative though and don’t really like novelty yarns so I’m probably not the best for suggestions.

I’ve got a bunch of crazy yarns (one or two of each color) that I’ve been trying to use. I knitted a 2 ply worsted (or bulky maybe) with an eyelash/popcorn mix yarn and made a fuzzy, cushy case for my daughter’s leappad. I was experimenting with some different combos and my next project was born! Now my friend wants something like it for her tablet (just with less hair from the eyelash, it was lion brand fun fur or similar, i can’t find the label)

I also made phone cases, same idea just smaller. I made a rectangle twice the width of the item and about the same height. Depending on your fabric, it may get longer. Seam the side and it’s done.

Anyway, hope this helps give you some inspiration

thanks for the ideas, cathena  one of my ‘crazy’ yarns, the purple/white ribbon-type, i saw for auction on listia.com in 2 other colors and the owner/seller listed some ideas for them as well, so now i’ve got an idea stash to go with my yarn stash  cheers!

The yarns look lovely. I’m not surprised you were tempted!

I’d go for a scarf too. :knitting:

When you have texture in your yarn, you don’t need to make texture with your knitting stitches.

A scarf made with those yarns would add colour and interest to a plain, dark coat.

Let’s see how it all turns out.
