Counting the stitches

In a pattern fo a washcloth I am doing as a starter it read 1st row 2nd row etc. Now the number of stitches it indicates at the end of each row is that he total number of stitches you should have total or just per row? Thank you

Yes, the number of sts given at the end of a row is what you’re left with after working the incs or decs given in the instructions.

As you increase or decrease, the number of stitches per row will change. THe number in your instructions tells you how many stitches you should have when you finish that ROW. It is a little clue for you to check the number and see if you have the correct number of sts:knitting:

Thanks so much
