How do I count rows with seed stitch? I’ve just been guessing the size against other squares in the pattern but thought I should learn to count the rows.
Thanks!

It might be too late now…but I don’t go anywhere without a row counter.

Is that kpkpk… next row purl the knits, k the ps?, repeat those 2 rows? What kind of seed stitch? If the kind I described, just count the bumps on a diagonal. Like a 1x1 checkerboard pattern, where you could count the lines by counting the black squares on a diagonal.
If another seed stitch, work out how many rows per square of the checker board, and count the squares in the same way.
I do what RedWitch does…count the little bumps diagonally…like stair steps. I mark every ten rows with thread, or itty bitty brass safety pins… so I don’t have to count and re-count the same rows over and over. I leave the markers in until the sweater is all done, and ready to go to the blocking board. Then I pull 'em out.
I’m with Rosefields…I don’t do well counting accurately, and never feel confident (thought I’m getting better), but I LOVE my row counter!
I like this one.
I’m with Rosefields and Lisa R. Row counter is the only way to go!
I loved my electronic row counter, but now I’m obsessed with these

OOooh those are beautiful! Hmmm…nuther Christmas present idea :cheering:
As has already been stated, row counters are the way to go. I don’t trust my ability to count the rows accurately so I just use row counters. I like the round ones that just slide on the needle but I do love to have the Kacha-Kacha one for those “and at the same time” directions. It’s been a life saver…
