Counting problem

Ok, folks, here’s the issue…I am doing this gorgeous sweater, and they are asking me to do something that is impossible!! Hopefully someone will help!

I am doing an edge (for the buttonholes-it is a cardigan, and I am adding the edge on the sides and neck edge) and it has asked me to moss st to the last 32 st (done), cast off 2 st (done), moss st 6, cast off 2 st (3 times), and moss st 2. According to the one I already did (and frogged, lol) I still have 6 stitches, not two. Can anyone help me make sense of this?

TIA
Katy

My math agrees with yours. You could work until there are 28 stitches and then at least the buttonholes would be at the top (if I’m imagining this correctly.)

You can also check with the publisher or designer to see if there are errata published for the pattern.

Thanks, Ingrid! I will try that.

Edited to ask: When I cast off the two stitches, do i count the stitch that is still on my needle after i have cast off? (I hope that makes sense!)

That one should be counted as one of the next 6.

Thanks Ingrid! I managed to make it work, but it really needs another button hole! I ended up taking out the first hole on the top, and it will work, but I am not really happy. Oh, well, the little one will like it.
