Could you do it?

Not even in my wildest dreams!!!

Hehe I could do that… I could make about 10 dishcloths in one day then sew them together into a sweater hehe :stuck_out_tongue: :figureditout:

Crochet, yes… knit… no way! Well maybe a baby/child sized sweater with bulky yarn and big needles. It took me about 8 hours to do the front of my Skacel sweater, so I know there is no way I could knit a sweater for me in just one day. If I totally concentrate on one project, I can get a fairly simple one done in a week or less though!

LOL don’t think so it took me almost a week to make my son’s… but then I could only knit at night or nap times but in one day… don’t think so

Lily Chin crocheted a sweater for David Letterman by the time he finished his show

And if by humongous needles you mean those size 50 ones that Lionbrand just started selling, then, well, still probably no. How about a bicycle seat cover?

If I didn’t have any distractions and you substract the frogging/re-knitting time … possibly.

Yeeesh! No WAY could I knit a sweater in one day. It took me a month to knit an Aran style fisherman sweater for my husband and I thought that was good!

I can do a beanie in one evening, though…

Wow. I just don’t know what to say. Just…WOW.

Okay, some day over the summer, I’m going to knit a sweater in a day. Or maybe even some Sunday when the roommate’s boyfriend isn’t here. I could make a new mohair sweater. :cheering: Though I’m pretty sure the seaming will kill me. Is a day midnight to midnight or waking up to falling asleep?

I have a book that supposedly has 24-hour or less projects. I made my DD a scarf that was supposed to take 10 hours. 2 weeks later I finished it. They must have meant 24 hours on a machine.

I must be really slow, but I didn’t think it was that bad. I did make a pair of gaunlets in 2 days tho’. I was very pleased with myself.

Yeah, I think I could. If it was knit in the round, and I had nothing else to do.

Of course, I always think I’m indomitable. And now I want to try.

Me, too, DotMom! I’m so glad someone else saw this as a challenge instead of something at which to laugh! :roflhard:
Let’s do it!

Cate …

Did you see the part of my “if” statement that said “If I didn’t have anything else to do?” Well, I was just contemplating – as I was washing the dishes @ 10 pm and cleaning up the kitchen – that I need to make a list of all the jobs I am responsible for here, and then all of the jobs that everyone else is responsible for here so that we could redistribute the wealth, so to speak.

So, while I’d like to join in a marathon sweater knitting session, I just don’t think I can pull it off unless I get shipped off to a deserted island somewhere.

Sorry if I’m sounding a bit crabby. I am desperately in need of some elusive “free time.”

Sorry. I clearly have no responsibilties, so, no, I did not see the “if.” I apologize for suggesting and won’t joke about it with the  face anymore.

If it was chunky and I was heartset on it, maybe I could finish most of it.

Argh!!! You got all serious on me. Joke away … I’m just crabby. I’ll just like … go …

… over here and be by myself until the crabbiness passes. You go see how fast you can knit a sweater!

Go Cate :happydance: Go Cate :happydance:

No, thank you. The marathon spirit has fizzled.
I think I’ll go try to be responsible for a few days and step away from the sweaters.

<sigh> OK, if you must. I feel like such a spoil sport. :verysad:

Don’t feel spoil-sporty. Since getting hooked on this place, I’ve been knitting more and reading less. I think if I break my knitting habit, I might tackle the ever growing pile of novels by my bed. I’m much better at being a marathon reader, anyway.
