Correcting yok2tog mistakes

I am still a fairly new knitter. I do fine backing up knit and purl stitches, but I am currently knitting a scarf that includes yarn over knit 2 together (yok2tog). I realized that I knitted two extra stitches and want back up my work to correct it, but I don’t know how to undo the yok2tog stitches. I would REALLY appreciate some instruction on this! I have to stop my work every time I make a mistake and go to the knit shop for a fix. I would love to be able to do it myself.

Thanks!

Undo the k2tog the same way you do the single knit - put the L needle into the 2 sts that make the k2tog and pull the yarn out of them. Or pull the yarn out first and put the L needle into the 2 sts. The sts won’t drop or run away from you if you don’t stretch that edge.

There’s a video, Fixing Mistakes under the Free Videos tab at the top of the page, Tips. It may help with ways of getting to the mistakes before taking them out.

Just undo as if it was one stitch and then return the yarn to the back.
