Correct way to do ssp or slip, slip purl

Hi everyone,
I thought I knew how to do a ssp but figured I’d look it up just in case I really didn’t. First I looked at a video by Very Pink and she did it as I expected. Next I checked wiki how and a few others and they all had the stitch being done thru the back loops of the two purl stitches. Very Pink did not so I’m confused.
Which way is right?

If you have your stitches mounted the normal way (not knitting combined style) then this is the correct way to do a true SSP (which is a true anatomical mirror of P2TOG):

But in the same way as there are many different variants of SSK, there are different variants of SSP. Some like to cross the stitches when doing a decrease to tighten it up more. When crossing the stitches, it is not anymore an anatomical mirror of K2TOG/P2TOG but some prefer it as for some both SSK and SSP end up a bit loose.

Thanks! I actually tried this method and like it very much. I didn’t know there were various ways to do ssk as well.
