I’m making this hat for my wife (my first project). :happydance: The pattern on the body says to use St st after 1 purl row, but the picture on the pattern doesn’t look like it. http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter03/PATTcoronet.html What kind of stitch is this? She wants it to look like the picture (except for 2 colors). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It IS stockinette stitch. Some yarns make a l/ instead of a V when you knit with them.
I looked at the picture and also didn’t think it looked like stockinette. I went to my stitch pattern book and the picture of stockinette looked the same as the hat. I think it’s just the angle of the picture that makes it look different.
