# Cornfussed by a cable!

I am starting the Braided Cable Scarf. I am not terribly excited about how the cables are written but I thought I was going to get past that but I am confused by the bolded part. Do you understand where I am supposed to be getting the purl that is on the cable needle from?

-Row 1 (wrong side): p2, k2, p3, k2, [p2, k1] 4
times, p2, k2, p3, k2, p2.
-Row 2: k1, k1 tbl, p2, (slip next 2 sts to back on
cable needle, knit next stitch, slip 2 sts from
cable needle onto left hand needle and knit
them), p2, [k2, p1] 4 times, k2, p2, (slip next
stitch to front on cable needle, knit next 2 sts,
slip 1 st from cable needle to left hand needle,
knit that st), p2, k2.
-Row 3 and all odd rows: Repeat Row 1.
-Row 4: k1, k1 tbl, p2, k3, p2, k2 [p1, (slip next 3
sts to front on cable needle, k2, slip the purl
from cable needle onto left hand needle and
purl it, then slip rem. sts to left hand needle and
knit them)]
; repeat directions in brackets once
more, p2, k3, p2, k2.

oooh i think i figured it out. I think she is assuming that I know that those slipped stitches are purl stitches. She does the same thing at row 8 where it actually made more sense to me. (Seriously… just using the CF5 thing or whatever would have made much more sense to me…lol)

If you think I am wrong about that let me know…otherwise i am goin’ for it!

:cheering: That is pretty!! I like that…

That is how I’m reading it too… cause you slip 3 sts to your cn… then slip purl st from cn back to left needle… then the other 2 sts… so yep I’d say when ya get there it will be purled :teehee:
