I just had to let you know of this site that i found accidently.
It will convert a picture into a knitting graph, it seems really easy too (as I have only just found the site i havent actually knitted from the graph i have made)

Knitpro has been around here for while–thanks for thinking of us! I haven’t used it yet for anything ‘real’ but it’s so nice to have it available. 
Thanks for showing us, looks like u love it!~ I designed the BORN TO KNIT cloths that I made on KnitPro…it’s very nice; now it’s especially nice since they corrected the portrait & landscape features, they were backward when they 1st designed the knitting graphs…LOL, that’s how the horizntal BORN TO KNIT cloths came about 
It is fun…I’m designing an afghan for my husband with it
