Converting pattern from one yarn/needle size to another

I’m trying to knit a baby blanket and I have a pattern that is written for a 3 weight yarn and size 6 needles. The yarn I’m using is a 4 weight so I am not quite sure what size needles to use and if I should adjust the pattern. Although, thinking about it, it’s a simple bias knit pattern with self striping yarn so I should be able to just knit it until I like the size and then decrease, correct?

The suggested needle size for a #4 worsted weight yarn is usually a. US 8. If you knit loser or tighter you can adjust that. Check the yarn wrapper and see what it suggests, too.

And you are correct, a bias pattern can be easily adjusted by knitting more or less before decreasing.
