I am attempting to make something similar to this convertible hat for my toddler. I have the neck warmer portion done and picked up stitches for the hood. Any words of advice on how to shape the hood? I have frogged it once already.

umm… which convertible hat
Sorry, I added the pic!
Looks like a good project to learn/use short rows!
Are you working without a pattern?
Here’s a knitty article explaining the technique.
Then there’s this, a different method of doing the same thing.
Good Luck!

No I don’t have a pattern. I have seen patterns for a balaclava using short rows, but that isn’t exactly what I want.
I played around and picked up stitches for the hood and then increased evenly across the row. I knit in stockinette and then decreased 2 stitches in the center to give it more of a rounded shape. I should have started decreasing a little earlier, it is a little “peaky”, but I think I can live with it.
I need to get some yarn to do a couple of rows of ribbing on the edges and then try to talk my toddler into putting it on. I’ll post a pic if it looks halfway decent.
