Continue as set

I have returned to knitting after 30 years and so am a little rusty!

I am knitting socks and am at the turn heel stage. I had 26 stiches on my needle and followed the pattern as below:

1st row: K14, s1, K1, psso, K1, turn
2nd row: P4, P2 tog, P1, turn
2rd row: K5, s1, K1, psso, K1, turn
4th row: P6, P2 tog, P1, turn

The next instruction is:

Cont as set dec 1 st on each row to 16 sts.

However, having completed row 4 above, I have only 15 stiches on my left hand needle and therefore not sufficient stitches to complete the pattern again for 6 rows.

Please could you let me know where I have gone wrong?

I really appreciate your time!

Hello
It sounds like you may have either dropped a stitch or have accidentally worked an extra decrease. Can you see any dropped stitch in the fabric?

I’m not a sock knitter but there’s plenty of sock help here.

Welcome to the forum!
As you work the heel you’ll be using up one stitch each side of the center group of sts.
On the 2nd row you p4, p2tog, p1 and turn (6sts)
On the 3rd row you k5, skp, k1 turn (7sts)
On the 4th row your p6, p2tog p1, turn (8sts)
on the 5th row k7, skp, k1, turn (9sts)

In each row you’ll use up one more of the sts on either the right needle or left neeedle as you turn the heel.

This tutorial shows the heel turn. Some of the details may be different but the idea of the stitches waiting on either side of the center until needed is nicely shown:
