Considering Clogs

I read the the knit-a-long about clogs and am now considering doing a pair. I do have some questions if you all would be ever so kind to answer.

  1. Is the pattern from Fiber Trends or is there another one floating around out there? Do you order it from one of the knitting stores?

  2. How hard are they to knit? Any special skills? How hard is it to felt? I have felted a sweater by accident, now it fits a very tiny person.

  3. How is it that you fit them as you felt them? I am thinking that these would make cool gifts for next Christmas.

  4. Does Wool of the Andes felt?

  5. If you used black for the sole, does it bleed its color when you felt it?

You didnt read the whoooole thiiiiiiing!!! :fingerwag: :wink: (Not that I really BLAME you…) The answers are all in there. But, Im feeling generous… :lol:

    It is a Fiber Trends pattern, and yes. Its not available online, unless they ship the paper pattern to you.

  2. How hard are they to knit? Any special skills? How hard is it to felt? I have felted a sweater by accident, now it fits a very tiny person.
    You’ll need to know (or learn) M1 increases, SSK & K2tog decreases, 3-needle bind-off and “wrap & turn”. Felting is ALOT of fun, and is no more difficult than doing a load of laundry.

    That’s the nature of felting…you check them every once in a while, if they are too big, you agitate them a little bit more, and when they fit you, they are done!

  4. Does Wool of the Andes felt?
    Yup!

  5. If you used black for the sole, does it bleed its color when you felt it?
    Ive never had trouble with it…

Thanks for all of the great info.

I am thinking that I have the skill for doing this. I know how to do everying, but “wrap & turn” and three needle bind off. I think Amy has a video for 3 needle, but what is wrap and turn?

Off to check out yarn to try this out.

The pattern gives you directions for all the stitches you need. Wrap and turn just has you slipping a stitch putting your yarn to the front, replacing that stitch and turning your work to knit the other way. No sweat.
