I hope someone can help me with this; I’m trying to essentially teach myself how to knit this nice Two-color Cushion pattern but I’ve run into a stumbling block. I’ve finished the 6 triangles, now I’m moving up to the next section and here lies the problem. The 3rd and 4th rows on the left triangle want me to: P twice in the first st, p2tog, turn, sl 1, k2, turn.
Brain crash! So what I understand is that I purl the first stitch twice…huh? I either get a very large loop or just one stitch.(probably doing something wrong) Assuming the single stitch is correct, I then move to p2tog; purl 2 together, ok so I’m decreasing, ok. Turn, guess I’m now on the “Knitting” side. sl1, ok so I move the stitch from the right to left…or was it left to right since it’s turned. Since its turned, I’m assuming I’m moving the work from left to right; ok so I slip it from the left needle to the right. K2…wait, I’ve only got one stitch, so how can I k2??? What did I do wrong? What am I overlooking or my misunderstanding of a step? Help??! :whoosh: :wall:
It’s an increase, like pfb, then you have 2 sts. Then p the next 2 sts tog and turn. You’ll have 3 sts on the left needle now, sl 1 to the right needle and knit 2. If you find it difficult to do a pfb, k1 and m1 purlwise, then k1; you need 3 sts from that first set of instructions.
Ah, thank you! So the P twice in first stitch essentially meant to purl and m1. >.< Hopefully I can now move along on this. Its supposed to be done by the 10th of July…short deadline I’m hoping will get me to finish something.
Thank you so much! This helps tons and perhaps I’ll take out what I’ve done so far, and try the other two mentioned ways and see what works best for me and comes out to my liking. I probably will have to do more than 6 triangles since I’m using smaller needles than listed. Yay, I may just get the hang of this! :woot: :woohoo:
You can also make the triangles with more stitches - I made a scarf with 10 and a throw that have 15 sts. Just CO as many sts you like and make the triangles/blocks whatever number dvides into it.
