Confusing instructions

My pattern says:
Row 1 (RS) Cast on 3 sts, and working over these 3 sts, beg with chart A row 1 st 1 and work to the rep line (3 sts), work the 13-st rep 5 times (65 sts), work to end of chart A (5 sts), pm, k3, pm,*beg with chart B row 1 st 1 and work to the rep line (2 sts), work the 13-st rep 5 times (65 sts), work to end of chart B (6 sts) - 149 sts (73 sts each side of center 3 sts).

Row 2 Work even foll row 2 of each established chart with center 3 sts worked as p3 on this and every WS row

The red is what I don’t understand.

Please help

It’s a little redundant maybe - basically CO 3 and begin row 1 of chart A on those 3 sts, then work the next 13 sts 5 times, k 3, and work chart B and so on. On row 2 the 3 sts in the middle of the row which I put in bold above, will be done as purls on every WS row. These are not the same 3 sts as the 3 you cast on at the beginning of Row 1.

What pattern are you doing?

Okay, so basically I need to put in 3 extra stitches in between chart a and b.

Its a pattern for a poncho I got from vogue knitting

Thank you so much.

Yes, it sounds like there’s 3 plain knit sts between the charts.
