Can someone explain this to me, I thought I was doing it right but am not. Can not explain what I did wrong
Sleeves
Rnd 1 with RS facing and dpns, pick up and k 6 sts along cast-on sts at underarm, pm after 3rd st, k sts from hold and up to marker - 48 sts. Knit 2 rnds.
Next (dec) rnd k 1, k2tog, k to 3 sts before marker, ssk, k 1. rep dec rnd every 8th rnd 2 times, then every 6th rnd 7 times 28 sts. Work even until sleeve measures 14 1/2 " from underarm.
Next rnd *K 1, p 1; rep from * to last 5 sts, k 5. work even in pat as established for 3 more rows. Bind off
‘With RS facing’ means with the knit rows out facing toward you. You can look up how to pick up sts from the video on the Tips or Advanced Techniques page, can’t remember where it is. You hold the sweater with the neck at the top, take a strand of yarn and pick up the sts from the underarm sts on the body, putting a marker in the middle of them, knit the sleeve sts from the holder around to the marker. If you don’t have dpns, you can use a circ and do magic loop. What isn’t coming out right?
I understand the RS facing, and how to pick up sts, where I am running into trouble is
k sts up to marker, k two rnds. Do I skip the remaining 3 sts on the holder and start the 2nd round. Then after the 2nd round go onto the 3rd round
where I state the dec. round?
You shouldn’t have 3 sts left on the holder. You picked up 6 st at the underarm putting the marker between them. Then knit all the sts on the holder and around to the marker. This includes the first 3 of the picked up sts.
Magic loop is a technique for using a regular circular needle to knit small diameters instead of using dpns. Look on the Advanced Techniques page for a video showing how to do it.
The marker is to show where the beginning of the round is. When you knit to the marker, those 3 sts will be done on the next round. Just keep going around and around…
