I was confused about the instructions shown in the picture. I wasn’t exactly sure how to do the stitches and also wasn’t clear whether we do the garter stitch/reverse st st with right sides facing each other or wrong sides facing each other. Would really appreciate some clarity. Thank you!
What is the name of your pattern and designer?
For mattress stitch to join the seams you’ll have the right sides (RS) or public sides of the knitting facing up or toward you.
Here are two videos for mattress stitch on garter and on rev st st. The basic technique and terminology is similar for both. You’ll be using both as you seam this sweater.
Hi there thanks so much for the video links. I’ve attached an image of the seams I’ve started to sew. Is this correct? The ridged edges are RS. The pattern is called tsui-do hanten and the designer is Vicki Square. Thanks again:slightly_smiling_face:![]()
(I mean the ribbed part is RS)
Lovely design. Just check that the seam formed by the mattress stitch is appearing on the WS. The knitting itself looks beautifully even and the kimono will be classic.
