Confused bythese shawl directions

I really want to make this shawl but am confused by the wording… any help clearing this up would be great…

Row 1 (RS): k1, yo, k1, yo, k1 (mark this st as centre st), yo, k1, yo, k1.
Row 2 (WS): k all stitches
Row 3 (RS): k1, yo, k to centre stitch, yo, k1, yo, k to last stitch, yo, k1.

Increase on all RS rows as for row 3 while working garter and stockinette bands.

what does as for row 3 mean? Am I going to keep following row 3, confused. It is supposed to keep increasing.

Thanks.

And it will keep increasing. You have 4 yarnovers in each right side row, so you’re increasing 4 stitches per right side row. You might better place a stitch marker before your center stitch to remind you where it is. And do just what it says - knit 1, YO, then knit all the way to the center stitch, then YO, k1.

Yes, repeat row 3 on all the right side rows and either knit or purl all the stitches on the wrong side rows, depending on whether it’s garter or stockinette. You’ll end up with a big triangle with eyelets on the edge that are just perfect for attaching fringe. I love to make shawls that way (mainly because I don’t have to think too much once they get going :teehee: )

Thanks! That makes sense. can’t wait to start it now.
