Confused by increase instructions

Hello All,
I am working on the ruffle edge of a baby blanket. I have 131 stitches currently on my needles, and the pattern says:

[k1, yo, k1] in each st across - 393 stitches.

The purpose as I understand it is to increase to make the ruffle wider on the outer edge. However, I cannot figure out how to k, yo, and k again in the same stitch. Any help would be much appreciated!

Knit into the front of the stich, but don’t remove the stitch from the needle. Then lay your yarn over the top of the needle (YO), and knit into the back of the stitch. Then take the resulting three stitches off the needle. :slight_smile:
