Confused about pattern

I am working on the Blanket Buddy and confused by line 64: p1 s1, rep from across row. Rep Row 64 until head measures 3 1/2 in.

So I am starting with a purl stitch then slipping a stitch purlwise and purling the next stitch until I reach the last stitch then repeating the row. When I repeat the row it seems like the stitches aren’t right. I am pretty sure that I am making this a lot harder than it is but I am just not getting it. Thanks!

Trust the pattern.

You are in effect double knitting. When you turn your work you will be purling the stitches you slipped in the previous row. It will make the stitches look larger. It will take 2 rows to be as tall as 1 row worked normally. The finished fabric will be denser.

Check to see if you’re supposed to hold the yarn in the back or the front when you slip.
