Confused about instructions

Instructions are for in the round, *knit to last 4 stitches before next marker. K2tog, K2, sm, K2, SSK, knit to marker, sm *. Repeat *to* until beginning of next round.

What is the name of your pattern and designer?
Thes might be directions for some raglan decreases. There is a decrease, 2sts, the marker, 2sts then another decrease. This sequence is repeated at each marker, typically 4 markers.
The k2tog leans right, k2, slip marker, k2, the ssk leans left. You’ll have 8 decreases if there are 4 markers in the round.

Have fun with it. It’s an unusual design and a good looking hat.

Just notice that there are only TWO sets of decreases, at the 2nd and 4th markers! It wants to be a flat triangle. There’s an easy-to-miss “sm” at the end of the repeat, telling you to skip a marker.

Thanks. Hope it turns out.
