Completly befuddled

found this pattern on ravelry
easy real easy not for me
i have started it twice
the shawl is called sunday market shawl
pattern
loosely cast on 30 sts
row 1 k2,YO repeat ** across, ending in k2
it is this first row that is throwing me
do you k2 YO across the row
and what does ** MEAN
you knit this row for 128 rows
and then
next row is k2, drop stitch repeat** across ending in k2
bind off
you are dropping yos in the last row
wouldnt there be a whole bunch of stitches in the last row
if you yo across the row
there are some others confused by this pattern
i cant figure out her answers
could you help me

Yes

and what does ** MEAN

“repeat ** across” means to repeat everything contained within the asterisks. You can always check the Glossary (tab at top) for symbols/abbrev you don’t understand.

Yes, drop every 3rd stitch on the last row, then BO very loosely, like with a needle 2-3 sizes up. And CO with the same size needle, you need really loose edges. You can CO about 12 sts, k2 YO across the next row, work about 10 rows then do the last row, k2, drop and see how it works. The stitch you drop is the extra one you made with the YO. It works out fine, I’ve done it.
