Completely Confused

I have knit this scarf but have not a clue how to do the final triangle:

What is written for the final triangle makes no sense to me. I have tried to decipher three different ways and none of them has worked and looked like the other end of the scarf. I am dying to finish this thing. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Did you try the alternate ending?

Yes, the alternate ending is the way that I want to finish because it is supposed to look like the other end of the scarf, but I am just not understanding what they are saying to do. I need it spelled out for me

Okay, without have some sts in front of me, this is how it goes -

when you have half the sts on one needle and half on the other continue with the pattern, but skip the inc at the beg of the garter ridge and dec instead by k1, k2tog and work the row as usual. Both needles will still have the same number of sts on each. Continue to work the garter ridges that way - a k1 k2tog at the beg instead of the inc - until there’s 6 sts left, then k1, k3tog, turn, k2, k3tog, turn, k1, k2tog and then you should be down to just one st, cut the yarn and pull the loop through.
